Classes Resume at Stillwater Junior High

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — Classes resumed Thursday at an Oklahoma junior high school where a 13-year-old student fatally shot himself in a hallway, prompting a lockdown and evacuation of the building.

Stillwater Public Schools says its Board of Education held an emergency meeting Wednesday and determined that classes and all extracurricular activities will be held Thursday at Stillwater Junior High School.

Authorities say the eighth-grade student died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound before classes began Wednesday.

The school district says counselors will be available for both students and staff. Superintendent Ann Caine says the district is "deeply saddened" by the student's death.
