Tulsa, OK – The City of Tulsa will accept a grant from the Justice Department to hire additional police officers. Mayor Bartlett made the announcement yesterday afternoon. The $4.4 million dollar grant will pay the salaries and benefits of 23-officers for three years. After that period, the city must agree to keep the officers on the payroll for a fourth year.

Mayor Bartlett says the city will also hold a police academy class next January and that will boost the number of officers to 30. They should be on the beat by this time next year.
