Mayor Dewey F. Bartlett Jr. has named Jackson W. Landrum Jr. as the new Director of the Mayor’s Office of Human Rights, effective immediately.

Landrum has served as interim director of the Human Rights Department since January 2014. By executive order, the Human Rights Department was renamed the Mayor’s Office of Human Rights in July 2015.

The Mayor’s Office of Human Rights department was created to promote human and civil rights through advisory, educational and enforcement services. Its mission is to promote equal opportunity and democratic rights and to protect human rights of persons in Tulsa against discrimination because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status or familial status.

“Jackson has guided the Human Rights Department through changes and growth during the past 18 months, strengthening the commissions supported by the department and continuing to assist small businesses in Tulsa,” said Mayor Bartlett.
