Church Settles Lawsuit from Tulsa Boxer's Death

Guts Church

A civil lawsuit has been settled concerning a Tulsa man who died after a boxing match held in a church.

The lawsuit was filed by the family of George Clinkscale III, seeking damages of more than $75,000 and punitive damages, and alleging negligence by Guts Church.

The 24 year old former University of Tulsa linebacker died shortly after the boxing event, which took place in September 2011.

According to an autopsy, “sudden exertional death” resulting from complications from sickle cell trait caused Clinkscale’s death.
