Chesapeake Surprises Financial Experts

Chesapeake Energy, which has struggled with lower natural gas prices, reported better-than-expected financial results and said it signed a deal to sell some of its assets in Oklahoma.

The company said it will sell about 42,000 acres of assets Newfield Exploration Co. for $470 million.

The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of the year.
