Cherokee Nation Opens New Office in Sallisaw

SALLISAW, Okla. (AP) — The Cherokee Nation has opened a new office in downtown Sallisaw that offers a central location for various tribal services.

Tribal members will be able to seek jobs, apply for loans, get a tribal license plate or gather information about becoming a foster parent at the office at 100. East Choctaw Avenue.

Principal Chief Bill John Baker says having agencies in a central location improves the ability to provide services to tribal members.

Sallisaw Mayor Julie Ferguson says the new office will also help with efforts to revitalize the downtown area of Sallisaw.
