Cherokee Freedmen Protest

By KWGS

Tulsa, OK –
At a protest today and a parade tomorrow, descendants of Cherokee freedmen plan to quote 'publicize their plight'. The protests come after a court ruling expelling the freedmen from the tribe. Unfair and wrong' is how Marilyn Vann, President of the Descendants of Freedmen of Five Civilized Tribes Association characterizes the ruling.
Freedmen descendants and supporters stage a protest the Bureau of Indian Affairs Office in Muskogee this afternoon. They will also be on hand at the Cherokee National Holiday parade tomorrow.
