Chasing A Ball Leads to Oklahoma Drowning

WAURIKA, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a Duncan man has drowned after chasing a soccer ball into Waurika Lake.

Troopers say the body of 18-year-old Maximiliano Garcia was found Saturday morning in the lake in southwestern Oklahoma.

Investigators say Garcia had chased a soccer ball into the lake late Friday afternoon and went too far into the water. Witnesses said Garcia began to struggle and others tried to rescue him — but were unable to reach him.

Garcia was the second person to drown in the lake Friday. The OHP says a Waurika man drowned earlier Friday in a separate incident after jumping into the lake from a boat.
