Charges Filed in Hot Car Death

A southwest Oklahoma man has been charged with second-degree manslaughter in the death of a 3-month-old girl.

KSWO-TV reports that Billy DeWayne Allen is charged in the Sept. 20 death of Mame Neta Attocknie. Allen is described as the girl's foster father.

He has pleaded not guilty.

Investigators have said Allen worked a night shift and failed to take the girl to daycare after taking his son to school. The foster mother later discovered the infant was not at the daycare and called Allen, who had sent his son to a store in the vehicle with the child still strapped in a car seat.

Investigators say the foster parents went to the store and found the girl dead in the vehicle.

An autopsy found the baby died of hyperthermia.
