Center to be Named After Tisdale
Ardmore, OK – New health center named after Tisdale
ARDMORE, Okla. (AP) A new $20 million specialty clinic planned in north Tulsa will be named after former Oklahoma basketball star Wayman Tisdale.
University President David Boren announced at a board of regents meeting Wednesday that the 50,000-square-foot clinic would be named the University of Oklahoma Wayman Tisdale Health Center.
During his three years with the Sooners, Tisdale became the first freshman ever to be named to the All-America first team. He also won a gold medal at the 1984 Olympics and went on to play 12 seasons in the NBA.
Boren says construction should begin by the end of the year on the new clinic, which will offer MRIs, CT scans, outpatient surgery, endoscopy and a cardiac rehabilitation center to an underserved area of Tulsa.
