Celebrate OK Mozart's upcoming season with this special program

Composer Callen Clarke and violinist Kyle Dillingham

The 2012 OK Mozart Festival in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, begins June 8. To celebrate the upcoming season, Performance Oklahoma host Kimberly Powell of KCSC, Oklahoma City's classical music station, presents a two-hour retrospective celebrating last June's Festival.

Hear this special program on Sunday, May 27, from 8-10 pm over Classical 88.7-1.

In the first hour: the Amici NY Orchestra and guest conductor James Bagwell are featured in Aaron Copland’s A Lincoln Portrait with actor Joe Sears as narrator. You'll then meet composer Callen Clarke and violinist Kyle Dillingham, and hear the world premier of Clarke’s own tone poem for orchestra titled Wiley Post. And in the second hour, enjoy performances from Paul Neubauer’s Classical All Stars chamber ensemble: the Clarinet Quintet Souvenirs de Voyage by Bernard Herrmann, with commentary from clarinetist David Shifrin and violist Paul Neubauer, who then introduce and perform Music for Viola and Gypsy Band. Violinist Jennifer Frautschi reveals how learning brand-new works freshens up the study and performance of classic repertory.
