Capitol Repair Panel to Mull Interior Renovation Plan

KGOU

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A committee charged with overseeing the renovation of the nearly 100-year-old Oklahoma Capitol is expected to review plans for overhauling the building's interior.

The State Capitol Repair Expenditure Oversight Committee will be briefed Thursday by the construction company overseeing the project.

The Oklahoma Legislature approved a $120 million bond issue last year to pay for renovations to the building that houses the Legislature, governor and several state agencies.

Work has already begun on the building's exterior, but now the companies charged with renovating the interior of the massive building are expected to lay out their plans for the scope and timeline of the project.

Renovating the building's interior will include plans for relocating hundreds of employees who work in the Capitol.
