Oklahoma City, OK – Candidates file for public office

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Candidates for public office are filing paperwork at the state Capitol to run for congressional, legislative and statewide seats in this year's elections.

Filing began at 8 a.m. Monday and continues until Wednesday. The primary election is scheduled July 27 and the general election is set for Nov. 2.

More than two dozen candidates were in line at the state Capitol when filing opened. The first was Republican state Rep. Mike Reynolds of Oklahoma City, who is seeking a fifth term.

Reynolds says he has been waiting in line to file paperwork since 10:45 p.m. Sunday. He says he has been first in line the last four election cycles and doesn't want it to appear to his constituents that he is slacking off.
