Muskogee, OK – Boren says he won't support Pelosi

MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) Rep. Dan Boren, the only Democrat in Oklahoma's congressional delegation, says he won't support House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for House Democratic leader.

Boren made the comments Friday when Pelosi, a California liberal, announced she will try to remain leader of the House Democrats despite huge election losses that cost her party the majority.

Pelosi, the nation's first female House speaker, says she will seek her colleague's support for House minority leader when the new Congress convenes in January. But Boren says he cannot support her and will throw his support to a more conservative Democratic alternative.

Boren, who has supported Pelosi before, was re-elected to his 2nd District seat in Tuesday's general election with almost 57 percent of the vote, smaller than his 70 percent margin in 2008.
