Bomb Found Along Pauls Valley Highway

KWGS News

Authorities say an improvised incendiary bomb was found beside a busy interstate highway in southern Oklahoma.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the Garvin County Sheriff's Office said a state highway mowing crew found the item about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. It was found beside an Interstate 35 exit ramp about 4 miles (6 kilometers) northwest of Pauls Valley and about 50 miles (80 kilometers) south of Oklahoma City.

Deputies called to the scene confirmed that the item was a homemade sparkler bomb, consisting of a cluster of sparklers tied together, and they closed the exit ramp.

The sheriff's statement said the bomb appeared to have been discarded by the side of the road. The bomb has been removed and the area declared safe about 5:30 p.m.
