Jenks, OK – Body found near Arkansas River in NE Oklahoma

JENKS, Okla. (AP) Authorities are looking into the death of a man whose body was found near the Arkansas River in Jenks.

Police say a fossil hunter discovered the body of an adult male on the west side of the river in a dry area of the riverbed, south of the Creek Turnpike bridge on Sunday. The man's body has been taken to the Medical Examiner's Office in Tulsa to determine a cause and manner of death.

Jenks police chief Don Selle says the man's identity has been confirmed but won't be released until his family is notified.

There were no signs of foul play.
