Body found after man disappears in Grand Lake

FAIRLAND, Okla. (AP) — Authorities say a body found in Grand Lake near Fairland has been turned over to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy and identification.

Authorities had been searching the water for 32-year-old Mitchell Ray Cunningham. Witnesses told authorities that Cunningham jumped off a boat dock into floodwaters at Twin Bridges State Park on Grand Lake.

A spokesman for the Grand River Dam Authority says waters were very swift when Cunningham disappeared last Wednesday.

The Miami News Record reports the body was found Saturday morning by a resident about 20 miles downstream from the state park. The body was recovered from a Grand Lake inlet near Sailboat Bridge.

Authorities say the body matches the description of Cunningham and that they've stopped their search for him.
