Black Prairie On Mountain Stage

Black Prairie makes its first appearance on Mountain Stage, recorded live on the campus of West Virginia University in Morgantown. An energetic string band of unexpected depth, Black Prairie features three members of The Decemberists. While originally conceived as a way for Chris Funk, Nate Query and Jenny Conlee to explore traditional instrumental music during that band's hiatus, the group's repertoire began to expand with the addition of former Bearfoot singer Annalisa Tornfelt and fellow Portland guitarist Jon Neufeld.

Here, Black Prairie fuses traditional string-band music, classic rock and pop with a set featuring original songs and a raging, straight-ahead cover of Led Zeppelin's "The Song Remains the Same."
