Bartlesville, OK – Bartlesville to begin furloughing workers
BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (AP) More than a dozen directors and supervisors in Bartlesville will begin furloughs next month as a result of slumping sales tax revenues.
The 26 city employees will be furloughed one day each month, for seven months, in a move expected to save the city about $5,000 each month.
City Manager Ed Gordon says employees will have the option of taking vacation or comp days for the furlough days.
The city's sales tax collections are down nearly 11 percent compared to last year.
Gordon says additional cuts may be needed if collections don't improve.
