The State School Superintendent presents her budget request for the upcoming year. Janet Barresi told lawmakers education needs over an 80-million dollar increase.
She asked for over $1.9-billion for common education in Oklahoma. That would be an $81-million increase over last year's budget request.
She says the funding is needed to address the reforms that she says are benefiting Oklahoma children. Lawmakers are expected to have $170-million less to spend this year than last.
Her presentation is for lawmakers as they begin drafting next year's budget for the state.
