Highway 51 has reopened between Wagoner and Coweta this morning. A tug boat, pushing four barges, hit the bridge supports in the McClellen-Kerr Navigation Channel around 7 a.m. this morning.
The bridge was closed for inspection and no problems were found. The Coast Guard, The Highway Patrol and O-DOT were all called to the scene.
In 2002, a barge hit the I-40 bridge over the navigation channel. That caused the bridge collapse. 14 people were killed.
