Audit Complete on OKC Bombing Survivor Fund
The finding of an audit of the Oklahoma City bombing Disaster Relief Fund for survivors is that “the overwhelming majority of survivor requests were funded in some way.”
The audit was conducted by BDK, LLP.
Holly Sweet with survivor advocacy group the Survivor Tree Committee says a “majority” is not enough.
“If we were only talking one person who was mistreated,” she said, “that would be the world, even if it was only one.”
The audit states that some survivors fell “between the cracks.”
“It’s only verified exactly what we claimed in the beginning,” Sweet said, “that there are people who were severely impacted by the bombing, who have unmet needs.”
She says they’ll continue to advocate for the Oklahoma City Community Foundation releasing control of donations to bombing survivors.
