Tulsa’s landmark, Route 66, Meadow Gold sign is now complete. When the sign was refurbished in 2009, it lacked the face-clocks that told the time. The clocks were missing. New clocks, made to look like the originals, were installed today.
The City’s Dennis Whittaker says the clocks cost about $49,000. The funding came from Vision 20-25.
The sign is at 11th and Quaker, about a mile from its original location. It was originally on the southwest corner of 11th and Lewis.
The clocks will be kept accurate by satellite time signals.
