The attorney for a Republican state senator from Oklahoma City charged with felony child prostitution says his client plans to resign by Wednesday evening.
Attorney Ed Blau told The Associated Press Monday that he's recently been hired to represent Sen. Ralph Shortey, who's facing three felony counts after police say he solicited sex from a 17-year-old boy.
Blau says it's too soon for him to comment on the charges, but he expects a not-guilty plea will be entered on Shortey's behalf when he makes his initial court appearance later this week.
Earlier Monday, the FBI confirmed it is investigating Shortey. An FBI spokeswoman says the agency served a search warrant Friday at the senator's home in Oklahoma City.
No federal charges have been filed against Shortey.
