Oklahoma City, OK – House hires attorney in corruption investigation

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The state House of Representatives has hired an attorney to help deal with allegations of political corruption.

Spokeswoman Jennifer Monies for House Speaker Chris Benge says Edmond attorney Andy Lester will "navigate and negotiate" the investigation.

Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater is looking into allegations Rep. Randy Terrill conspired to create an $80,000 a year state job at the medical examiner's office for Sen. Debbe Leftwich. In return Leftwich would not run for re-election clearing the way for Rep. Mike Christian to run for her seat.

The three have denied wrongdoing.

Leftwich is not running for re-election and Christian announced for her seat but filed instead for re-election to the House after the investigation became public.
