Arrest in Sand Springs Attempted Rape

Sand Springs Police

The Sand Springs Police Department makes an arrest in connection with the attempted rape of a 20 year old Sand Springs woman. Tips led detectives to 49-year-old Steven Ray Bowes  of Tulsa.

As a result of the interview, as well as the recovery of evidence believed to be associated with this case, Bowes was arrested on charges of kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, and attempted forcible sodomy.

The victim reported she was running in River City Park last Sunday afternoon. She indicated the suspect passed her on a bicycle. As she passed under Highway 97 bridge, she encountered the suspect again. She said he waited until she approached and pulled a handgun where she was abducted.
