Arnaud Sussmann and Orion Weiss on Performance Oklahoma

Arnaud Sussmann and Orion Weiss from Chamber Music in Oklahoma! Winner of a 2009 Avery Fisher Career grant, violinist Arnaud Sussmann is a multi-faceted and compelling artist who has performed as soloist throughout the US, Central America, Europe and Asia. And one of the most sought-after soloists in his generation of young American musicians, pianist Orion Weiss offers performances noted for their expression and craftsmanship and has appeared across North America, Israel and France. Both artists served as members in the Chamber Music Society Two program and have appeared as guests of many chamber music festivals and series, including in Oklahoma, the OK Mozart International Festival. And this past December the two, who met at Tanglewood in the summer of 2003 released a recording of the Johannes Brahms' Violin and Piano Sonatas on the Telos label. Appearing as guests of Chamber Music in Oklahoma on Sunday, February 15th at Christ the King Catholic Church in Oklahoma City, the duo offered a program featuring the Sonata No. 2 in A major Op 100 of Brahms as well as the Sonata No. 1 in b minor BWV 1014 of Johann Sebastian Bach, the Sonata No. 2 in G Major, Op 13 of Edvard Grieg and the Sonata No 21 in e minor, K 304 of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Both artists offer delightful remarks to the audience in this concert, the third of Chamber Music in Oklahoma's 55th season.

Following the concert broadcast, we'll enjoy an encore of a performance from the 2012 OK Mozart International Festival broadcast series featuring Violist Paul Neubauer, cellist Peter Wiley and Mr. Weiss at the piano, in Brahms' Trio in a minor, Op 114.

Performance Oklahoma is heard each week on Wednesday evening at 8pm and Saturday morning at 8am on Classical KUCO and Saturday evening at 8pm on Classical KWTU!
