Arkansas Murder Suspect Killed by Oklahoma Police After Chase

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Authorities say a man suspected of killing his mother and another person in Arkansas has been fatally shot by police in Oklahoma.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that 40-year-old Andre Johnson was shot by police on Saturday in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, after leading officers on a car chase.

Robert Gentry, a spokesman for the Sevier County, Arkansas, sheriff's office, says Johnson had bailed out of his car and started shooting at law enforcement officers who pursued him. Gentry says Johnson died from his gunshot wounds.

Johnson was a suspect in a shooting that left two people dead in Horatio, Arkansas, earlier Saturday. The sheriff's office has not released the names of the victims, but Gentry says one of them was Johnson's mother.

Broken Bow is roughly 28 miles from Horatio.
