Apache Expanding, Adding Jobs in Tulsa

File photo

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A Texas-based oil and gas producer is expanding its presence in the Tulsa area.

Apache Corporation has added 49 positions and may hire another 49 people in the year ahead.

The company moves about 80,000 barrels of oil equivalent daily from its Tulsa-based region, which includes Oklahoma and the Texas panhandle.

The Tulsa World reports that the Apache jobs update comes the same week that Samson Resources Company announced it would cut 70 jobs at its base in Tulsa.

Apache vice president Rob Johnson says he expects the business to keep growing. Its Tulsa workforce is up to 172 positions and has a total of 230 people in five offices in the region.
