Tulsa, Oklahoma – On today's show, we hear from Robert Walters, who's directing American Theatre Company's current production of "The Immigrant," which runs at the Tulsa PAC through March 13th. As Walters explains on our program, back in 1990, Tulsa's own American Theatre Company presented Mark Harelik's play, "The Immigrant," which is based on the story of Harelik's grandfather's arrival in this country. Now, ATC is presenting "The Immigrant: A Musical," which is based on Harelik's original play --- but which also features music and lyrics by Steve Alper and Sarah Knapp. The play offers a glimpse into the lives of a Russian-Jewish immigrant and his wife, who arrive in America at the dawn of the 20th century . . . and thereafter take up residence in the town of Hamilton, Texas. As Walters tells our host Rich Fisher, this show also boasts an intriguing blend of Country & Western, Texas swing, and Eastern European musical styles. Also on today's StudioTulsa, our commentator Barry Friedman describes how his father --- now well past the age of 80 --- recently bought a new home in Las Vegas.
