Afton Tornado Path 12 Miles Long Across 3 Counties

NWS

The National Weather Service in Tulsa says it was an E-F-1 tornado that snaked a path  of destruction across three counties late Thursday evening.

The tornado hit about 10 p.m. just  northeast of Vinita in Craig County. It then traveled to the southeast, crossing into Ottawa County near Afton. That is where storm destroyed several barns and outbuilding with its 110 mph winds.  Several homes were damaged and trees were uprooted.

The storm next moved into Delaware County and lifted near the town of Bernice. The damage path, at its strongest point, was just less than a half mile wide. There were no reported injuries.
