Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. surgeon: Addiction story told to help others

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) An Oklahoma City plastic surgeon who is married to a former prosecutor says she is telling the story of her drug addiction as a way to help others.

Dr. Lori Hansen told The Oklahoman that she is overcoming the embarrassment of having to become sober and has found a new joy in her work.

Hansen is married to Wes Lane, who was district attorney for Oklahoma County. She says she became addicted to pain medication after two car crashes and, in 2000, was confronted by staff members at her clinic about improper prescription drug use.

Hansen was prosecuted, sentenced to probation and lost her medical license for a time. She has her license back, but on condition that she be supervised by the state medical board.
