400 Oklahoma National Guard troops to arrive home

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Four hundred soldiers with the Oklahoma National Guard are preparing to return home. Guard officials say the soldiers with the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team arrived at Camp Shelby, Mississippi this week and are scheduled to arrive in Oklahoma early next week. Homecoming ceremonies are planned at the Air National Guard base in Oklahoma City for Monday and Tuesday. The soldiers are completing demobilization tasks like turning in their combat gear and weapons and attending classes on their benefits. More than 3,000 soldiers with the 45th went to Kuwait and Afghanistan in June in what was the Oklahoma National Guard's largest deployment since the Korean War. They will be returning to Oklahoma over the next several weeks.
