4 Inmates Hurt after Prison Bus Fight in Oklahoma

File Photo

NEWCASTLE, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says four inmates were injured after a fight broke out on a bus carrying federal prisoners.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Capt. George Brown says the fight happened Monday morning on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike at Newcastle. Brown says the driver of the bus pulled over once the inmates began fighting.

Authorities with the Newcastle Police Department, Grady County Sheriff's Office and Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to the scene along the interstate. Brown says law enforcement officers stopped the fight and determined that four inmates were injured. One inmate was taken to a hospital and all other inmates were moved to another bus.

Brown says no guards or law enforcement officers were hurt.
