4 Earthquakes Recorded South of Guthrie

File photo

GUTHRIE, Okla. (AP) — Four small earthquakes have been recorded just south of Guthrie in central Oklahoma.

Authorities say there are no reports of damage or injury after Friday's temblors.

The strongest quake recorded by the U.S. Geological Survey was a preliminary magnitude 3.4 quake recorded at 3:21 p.m. three miles southeast of Guthrie.

A 3.2 magnitude quake was recorded at 1:07 p.m., a 3.1 magnitude tremor at 3:58 p.m. and a 3.0 magnitude quake at 3:45 p.m. Each of the quakes were recorded two to three miles south/southeast of Guthrie — about 25 miles north of Oklahoma City.

Geologists say earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest that are felt by humans and that damage is not likely in earthquakes of magnitude 4.0 or lower.
