3 More Earthquakes Rumble Logan County

KWGS News Map

GUTHRIE, Okla. (AP) — Three earthquakes rumbled Logan County late Sunday, about a week after a 4.1 magnitude temblor caused minor damage at the county jail in Guthrie.

The U.S. Geological Survey says a 3.8-magnitude earthquake struck shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday. The USGS initially estimated the earthquake as a 4.2 magnitude, but it was later downgraded to a 3.8 magnitude.

The earthquake was centered about 7 miles south-southwest of Guthrie.

Another earthquake with a 2.9 magnitude was recorded about 30 minutes later followed shortly by a third earthquake with a 3.0 magnitude. No damage has been reported.

On Feb. 8, an earthquake struck near Langston and caused several cracks in the walls at the Logan County jail.
