2 Tulsa Women Sentenced to Life for Child's Death

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Two Tulsa women have been formally sentenced to life in prison for murder and neglect of a 19-month-old boy.

Jazmin Williams and Mica Shoate were sentenced Monday after being convicted in March of child-abuse murder and child-neglect in the March 2012 death of Zamontay Green. Both were sentenced to life without parole for the murder conviction and life with parole for neglect.

The two women said the child was abused by someone else. Prosecutors say the boy had been in the women's care for months after his mother left him with them and moved to Arkansas.

The boy was found by a police officer during a traffic stop of a car driven by Shoate and with Williams as a passenger. The child died of blunt force trauma to the head.
