13-Year Old Shot in North Tulsa; 5 in Custody

KWGS News-File photo

A 13-year-old boy is hospitalized after being shot in the head late Friday afternoon. It happened in a neighborhood south of Pine and North Denver Avenue. The boy was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. He underwent surgery late Friday night.

The shooting resulted in a standoff with police when the occupants of the house initially refused to come out. Four people eventually left the house and where taken downtown for questioning at police headquarters.  After a three hour standoff, the Tulsa Police Special Operations Team entered the home and found the fifth person asleep in the basement. He claimed he did not hear police commands to come out of the house.

It is unknown what prompted the shooting and who fired the shot.
