Tulsa, OK – We are running out of telephone numbers in the 918 area code. Effective March fifth of next year, you'll need to dial the area code to place a local call.

Right now, we are in a trial period where you can either dial seven or ten digits to place a local call. The Oklahoma Corporation Commission's Matt Skinner says you should be reprogramming telephones.

Early next year, new phone numbers will have a new 539 area code. Existing numbers will remain the same. Skinner says long distance service will not be impacted.
