Dip in Oklahoma Unemployment

Tulsa, OK – The jobless rate in Oklahoma takes a small dip last month. Figures released today show the rate now at six-point-eight percent. That is down from six-point-nine-percent. It is the first drop in the jobless rate in three months.

BA Rep Wants Judge Gone

Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. lawmaker wants accused judge off the bench

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A state lawmaker says he plans to file legislation to remove a state judge charged with perjury and fraud.

State Rep. Mike Ritze of Broken Arrow said Tuesday he wants to remove Oklahoma County District Judge Tammy Bass-LeSure and will ask the Council of Judicial Complaints to investigate.

Flu Season is Here

Oklahoma City, OK – Three people are dead and over 200 hospitalized. That is the stats for this year's flu season in Oklahoma, thus far. Susan Mendes with the State Health Department tells the OETA that it is important to get a flu shot, even if you have already had the flu.

It appears more people are coming down with the flu this year, but she is reluctant to blame the increase on the health department no longer offering free flu shots.

Preliminary Hearing on Hold

Bartlesville, OK – A preliminary hearing is delayed for a second time for 26-year-old Lyndsey Fiddler of Bartlesville.

She is the woman accused of felony child neglect after her ten day old daughter was found dead in a washing machine. She will be back in court in March.

School Drill in Tulsa

Tulsa, OK – three west Tulsa schools are evacuated. It was all a part of a disaster drill yesterday for the T-P-S.

Tulsa Public Schools Emergency Manager Bob Roberts says Under today's drill students at Webster, Clinton and Remington were relocated to the fairgrounds because of a mock train derailment.

Computerized Health Care Records

Tulsa, OK – TULSA, Okla. (AP) A Tulsa nonprofit organization is using more than $12 million in federal grant money to develop a local electronic health information exchange model. Tulsa doctor David Kendrick, the CEO of the Greater Tulsa Health Access Network, says the goal is to have the system ready for use by spring or early summer. Tulsa is one of 15 communities chosen to receive the federal grant.

Henry to Higher Ed?

Edmond, OK – Former Gov. Brad Henry considers UCO presidency

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Former Gov. Brad Henry says he's considering applying to become president of the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond.

UCO President Roger Webb announced last week he will retire this summer. Henry told The Oklahoman he will "seriously consider" applying for the opening and will discuss it with his wife.
