Tulsa, OK – Today the Tulsa Airport Improvements Trust awarded a $15.9 million Terminal Concourse B Renovation Contract to Manhattan Construction Group of Tulsa, OK. The architects for the project were Benham and Gensler, engineers are Benham, and URS will serve as Project Manager.

The project is part of the airport's overall $164 million Capital Improvement Program and will include the complete renovation of Concourse B which currently houses the gates and operations for Southwest Airlines and United Airlines.

Tulsa Police Helicopter Returning

The Tulsa Police Helicopter lifts off from its north Tulsa Heliport.

Tulsa, OK – One of Tulsa's two police helicopters will return to service tomorrow night. Mayor Bartlett made the announcement today. Pilot Byron Barnhart says the chopper can quickly get across the city and is an asset to ground officers.

The fate of an older helicopter is still pending. Mayor Bartlett says it may be declared surplus and sold.

Then Mayor Kathy Taylor and Police Chief Ron Palmer grounded the helicopters last fall for budget reasons.

Missing Daughter a False Alarm

Tulsa, Okla. – TULSA, Okla. (AP) Police in Tulsa say they've arrested a man for falsely reporting his 6-year-old daughter was inside his stolen pickup truck.

Police say Michael Hankins reported his truck stolen about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and that he said his daughter was inside to get a faster response from officers.

Tulsa, Okla. – TULSA, Okla. (AP) Fifty-one Tulsa police officers who were among 124 laid off because of budget cuts in February are to be rehired this week.

Capt. Jonathan Brooks says the officers will be sworn in Friday and start working this weekend. Brooks says another 30 laid off officers are to be rehired at the start of August.

Flood Damage Assessed

Oklahoma City – OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) State and federal officials have begun touring homes that were damaged by flooding in south Oklahoma City last week.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Small Business Administration and the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management visited about two-dozen homes Wednesday to find out what kind of insurance homeowners and business owners have and the overall damage to their property.

Special Funding for Tulsa Schools

Tulsa, OK – Students at several of TPS' highest-need schools will be spending significantly more time in the classroom, thanks to millions of dollars in support from the federal government.
