McAlester, OK – Inmate escapes from Oklahoma prison

McALESTER, Okla. (AP) Authorities say an inmate escaped overnight from a McAlester prison.

Oklahoma Corrections Department spokesman Jerry Massie said Monday that 34-year-old Stephen G. Thomas was discovered missing during the 8:30 a.m. head count Monday at Jackie Brannon Correctional Center, a minimum-security prison.

Prison records show Thomas is scheduled for release in 2020 on convictions for injury of a minor child and possession of an explosive device.

Tulsa, OK – 3 die when plane goes down in Tulsa, Okla., park

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Authorities say a twin-engine plane whose pilot asked to make an emergency landing at Tulsa International Airport went down instead in a wooded area of a city park northwest of the airport, killing all three people aboard.

County Disaster Plan

Tulsa, OK – Tulsa County is vulnerable to natural and man-made hazards. The scope of the proposed Tulsa County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan focuses on the unincorporated areas of county. The Tulsa County Technical and Citizens Advisory Committees identified the 150 natural and man-made hazards deemed to be a threat to the Tulsa County citizens. The Tulsa County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plans identifies both long and short tern hazard mitigation possibilities.

Broken Arrow Loses Water Source

July 12, 2010 – While Broken Arrow is being touted in Money Magazine, the city has been dealing with a major water main break.
The pipe carrying the primary source of water to the city completely collapsed. As a result, residents were put on alert. Residents are asked to use water only for cooking, drinking and personal hygiene.
While the pipe is repaired, the city is relying on water towers. The line could be repaired as early as this evening.

Broken Arrow Makes "Best Places to Live" list

July 12, 2010 – Money Magazine's annual "Best places to live" list is on the shelves and 4 Oklahoma cities places in the top 100.
Edmond, Stillwater, Norman and Broken Arrow made the list.
The magazine cites Broken Arrow's low unemployment, low cost of living along with the city's efforts to keep old fashioned traditions alive like the annual "Rooster Days".
