Temperatures Creep Higher

Oklahoma City – OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Central Oklahoma is bracing for near record temperatures as a heat wave that's claimed one life this week continues across much of the state.

The National Weather Service in Norman says highs Friday in Oklahoma City could approach 105 degrees. The record high for the date is 107 set in 1936.

A high of 103 is forecast for Tulsa where the record is 110 set in 1923.

Burrage's angry comments came after a news conference in which Reynolds criticized the amount of time taken to perform and release an audit of Broken Arrow Schools.

Couincil Hears Mediation Offer

Tulsa, OK – As the battle between the Mayor and City Council rages on, two of Oklahoma's top judges offer to help improve the relationship through mediation.

Former Oklahoma Supreme Court Justice Daniel Boudreau and former Federal Magistrate Sam Joyner met with the councilors yesterday to explain what they could offer with mediation.

The response for the council was mixed. Some members say they are concerned the judges don't have the expertise needed to discuss the city charter of the open meetings act.

CONTINUING COVERAGE: Corruption Trial Delay Expected

Tulsa, OK – Delay in Okla officers' corruption trial possible

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Federal prosecutors and defense attorneys want a judge to declare the corruption case of five present or former Tulsa police officers "complex," which could mean a delay of the Sept. 13 trial.

Arkansas U.S. Attorney Jane Duke wrote in a motion that reviewing more than 30,000 pages of discovery documents will take time. Duke was appointed to the case after Acting U.S. Attorney Scott Woodward recused himself.

New Grass at Tulsa Courses

Tulsa, OK – Putting greens at two of Tulsa's four 18-hole municipal golf courses will get new grass in coming weeks, reducing maintenance costs by an estimated $100,000 to $110,000 per year, possibly more.

The cost of replacing the greens is less than the cost of planned maintenance to the existing greens.

Major Apartment Fire in Muskogee

Muskogee, OK – Fire fighters in Muskogee battle multiple alarm fire in intense heat. The blaze left 28-people homeless at the Shady Hallow Apartments. The fire broke out just before five o'clock in the morning. The temperature at the time was in the upper 70s, but jumped into the 90s by mid-morning.

The American Red Cross was called to the scene to help rehabilitate dehydrated fire fighters. The agency was also helping the displaced residents with basic needs.

Back to School Party Busted

Tulsa, OK – Tulsa Police and the Able Commission raid the 918 Event Center at 3601 East Admiral in Tulsa. The raid took place late last night, just before midnight. Tulsa Police tell KWGS News that officers had been tipped-off to gambling.

Plainclothes officers enter the club and found games of dice underway. Police say the owner and employees were permitting the games to take place.
