Oklahoma City, OK – Tulsa couple gives $12M to Okla. U. Health Center

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) University of Oklahoma President David L. Boren says a couple from Tulsa has donated $12 million to the OU Health Sciences Center, the largest ever one-time gift to the program.

A news release from OU on Thursday said the donation was made by Peggy and Charles Stephenson, specifically to benefit cancer programs.

Tulsa, OK – We are running out of telephone numbers in the 918 area code. Effective March fifth of next year, you'll need to dial the area code to place a local call.

Right now, we are in a trial period where you can either dial seven or ten digits to place a local call. The Oklahoma Corporation Commission's Matt Skinner says you should be reprogramming telephones.

Early next year, new phone numbers will have a new 539 area code. Existing numbers will remain the same. Skinner says long distance service will not be impacted.

Plea Entered in Abuse Case

Tulsa, OK – A not guilty plea for Tulsa Day Care worker Meredith Howard. She is the John Knox Child Care worker accused of abusing a 19-month-old girl in her care.

The plea was entered this morning in Tulsa District Court by her attorney Alan Smallwood. The 38-year-old Howard will be back in court next month.

Minneapolis, MN – Minn. man sentenced for false bomb threat

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) A Minnesota man has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison for reporting a false bomb threat to the FBI.

The U.S. Attorney's office says 26-year-old Daniel Gerald Peterson of Hutchinson was sentenced Wednesday to 33 months on one count of offering false information and hoaxes.

Peterson pleaded guilty in June.

Muskogee, OK – Police looking into stabbing death of Okla. man

MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) Wagoner police and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation are looking into a fatal stabbing at an apartment complex.

Police Capt. Tony Ponds says 36-year-old Taft resident Cornelius Powell was stabbed about 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Autumn Woods Apartments.

Ponds told the Muskogee Phoenix that Powell was at the apartment when a fight broke out.

He says investigators have a suspect in the killing but no arrest has been made.

One Dead in Plane Crash

Oklahoma City, OK – Pilot killed in small plane crash in Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Authorities say a small plane crash in the Oklahoma City area has killed one person.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lynn Lunsford says the pilot of a single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza was killed when the plane crashed Wednesday night near Yukon, about two miles south of Wiley Post Airport. Lunsford says the plane was flying from Lawton to Oklahoma City.
