Mobile Home Fire Claims a Life

McLoud, OK – Mobile home fire claims life of 1 near McLoud

Mcloud, Okla. (AP) Authorities are investigating a mobile home fire that has claimed the life of one person near McLoud.

Firefighters say the fire was reported at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday near the town on the eastern edge of Oklahoma City and the home was engulfed in flames when they arrived.

The victim's name has not been released. The state fire marshal has been called to the scene to help determine the cause of the blaze.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Polls are open in 75 of Oklahoma's 77 counties for voters who will decide school board races, school bond issues and some municipal and county races.

Elections are scheduled in all but Marshall and Woods counties.

Tulsa, Okla. – As Tulsa digs out, another storm expected

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Tulsa continued to dig out Tuesday from last week's massive blizzard just as another winter storm was making its way toward the state. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for eastern Oklahoma, forecasting 4 to 10 inches of snow from Tuesday afternoon until Wednesday night.

The forecast also calls for wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour, drifting snow and warned that roads could become impassable.

Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. health department reports boy with flu dies

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting the flu-related death of a Cleveland County boy.

The department's website says the boy was less than 5 years old and that he died during the week of Jan. 23 through 29 which is the most recent week reported.

Miami, OK – Oklahoma Highway Patrol to remove SUV from river

MIAMI, Okla. (AP) The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says it will begin removing a sport utility vehicle from the icy waters of the Spring River.

The SUV slid off the Will Rogers Turnpike early Thursday, resulting in three deaths and five injuries.

Troopers would like to begin removing the vehicle on Saturday or Sunday, weather and road conditions permitting.

Oklahoma City, OK – Gov. Mary Fallin delivers State of State address

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Gov. Mary Fallin says Oklahoma needs to improve its schools to better educate children.

Fallin made the remarks during her State of the State address Monday.

Fallin says lawmakers should restructure spending and educational programs in order to get more money into the classroom. She says that will require cutting down on overhead and educational bureaucracy by sharing administrative resources.
