Broken Arrow, OK – Okla. officials favor exemption for pet kangaroo

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (AP) City councilors in a Tulsa suburb are in favor of an exotic animal ordinance exemption that would allow a resident to keep her red kangaroo within city limits.

The Broken Arrow City Council discussed the exemption for the partially paralyzed animal named Irwin during its Tuesday meeting. Councilors unanimously voted to put the new language on the next meeting agenda for adoption.

Boy Drowns

Cushing, OK – 4-year-old autistic Okla. boy found dead in pond

CUSHING, Okla. (AP) Police say a missing 4-year-old autistic boy has been found dead in a pond at a Cushing park.

Cushing Police Chief Terry Brannon says officers received a 911 call around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday that Blake Murrell was missing. Brannon say officers determined that Blake was last seen near Memorial Park and the search effort was concentrated there.

No Damage in Latest Tornado Outbreak

Tulsa, OK – No injuries reported with possible tornado in Okla.

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Authorities say a possible tornado may have touched down in an unpopulated area of southeast Oklahoma.

The National Weather Service says a large tornado was reported on the ground in southern Le Flore County early Tuesday evening, but emergency management director Michael Davidson said there were no towns in the vicinity. Southern LeFlore County is covered by the Ouachita National Forest and the Kiamichi Mountains.

Drawing the Line

Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. House passes congressional redistricting bill

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A plan to redraw Oklahoma's five U.S. congressional districts has been unanimously approved in the state House and now moves to the Senate for consideration.

The state's five congressmen agreed to the plan that makes only minor changes to each district.

States are required to redraw congressional districts each ten years based on the latest census data.
