Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. gov. signs bill for use of utility vehicles

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Legislation that allows the regulated use of utility vehicles on public roadways has been signed into law by Gov. Mary Fallin.

The new law by Sen. Don Barrington of Lawton and Rep. Tommy Hardin of Madill puts utility vehicles in the same category as golf carts and allows their regulated use under certain circumstances.

Tulsa, OK – Fallen Tulsa officers to be honored at ceremony

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Ceremonies are set to honor three Tulsa police officers who died in the line of duty and as well as other officers who died in 2010.

During a candlelight vigil at sundown Friday, a ceremony at the Tulsa Police Memorial to recall retired and active Tulsa officers who died last year in circumstances other than in the line of duty.

TUSHKA, Okla. (AP) The Federal Emergency Management Agency says residents whose homes and businesses were damaged by the deadly tornado that ripped through Atoka County last month have until Monday to visit the Disaster Recovery Center in Tushka.

Child Abuse Death: Two Arrested

Glenpool, OK – A one year-old girl is dead, the apparent victim of child abuse in Glenpool. Police in Glenpool have arrested two people in connection with the case. Arrested are 28-year-old David Eugene Bridgeman and his girl friend, 21-year-old Paula Najar. Bridgeman is the victim's uncle.

Tulsa, OK – Two people are in custody after Tulsa Police bust a theft ring from storage facilities. Police say the pair would rent a storage facility and then come back at night with bolt-cutters and cut away locks on other storage doors and the stealing the stuff inside.

Oklahoma City, OK – Grading system coming for Oklahoma schools

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Gov. Mary Fallin has signed bills to institute a letter-grade system for rating Oklahoma schools and end social promotion after the third grade.

Fallin said during a signing ceremony Wednesday the two Republican-sponsored changes to will help schools produce better-educated and more-skilled students.
