Catoosa, OK – Tulsa Port of Catoosa celebrates 40th anniversary
CATOOSA, Okla. (AP) The Tulsa Port of Catoosa is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the day then-President Richard Nixon formally dedicated the inland port.
Nixon spoke during the ceremony at the port on June 5, 1971, a few months after the first arriving barge carried newsprint. Since then, port officials say more than 41,000 barges have traveled through the port, delivering more than 67 million tons of cargo on the waterway.
Tulsa, OK – Oklahoma Aerospace Summit set to start in Tulsa
TULSA, Okla. (AP) Gov. Mary Fallin is scheduled to be a keynote speaker during the annual Oklahoma Aerospace Summit and Expo in Tulsa this week.
The event will run from Monday through Wednesday. Fallin says she helped start the event 10 years ago, when she was Oklahoma's lieutenant governor, when she realized how important an industry aerospace has become to the state.
Tulsa, OK – A Heat Alert is issued for the Tulsa area by EMSA. The Emergency Medical Service issued the warning after five people were transported to the hospital on Saturday because of heart related injuries. The Service reports that most of those transported were working out-of-doors and had little hydration.
