Oklahoma City, OK – 7 companies join Oklahoma Quality Jobs Program

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Seven new companies are joining the Oklahoma Quality Jobs Program and officials say the companies will bring a combined 365 new jobs to the state.

The state Department of Commerce says the companies are Reliance Pressure Control LLC of Elk City, Saltus Technologies LLC of Tulsa, The Crosby Group LLC of Tulsa, Stan Johnson Co. of Tulsa, Electrical Power Systems Inc. of Tulsa, Long Wave Inc. of Oklahoma City and KCI Enterprises Inc. of Ponca City.

Skiatook, OK – Swim beach at NE Okla lake to close due to drought

SKIATOOK, Okla. (AP) A swim beach at a northeastern Oklahoma lake is closing because of low water levels brought on by continuing drought conditions.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Tulsa District office says the swim beach at Tall Chief Cove on Skiatook Lake will close June 15. Officials say the lake is almost six feet below its normal pool elevation and the lake level is still falling.

MANGUM, Okla. (AP) The prospective jury pool in the trial of a former prison warden's wife accused of helping an inmate she fell in love with escape is back down to 18.

Defense attorney Garvin Isaacs says four prospective jurors were excused from the panel Wednesday. Attorneys chose two others, bringing the total back to 18.

Tulsa, OK – Okla officer accused of corruption testifies

TULSA, Okla. (AP) A Tulsa police officer accused of corruption has taken the witness stand.

Nick DeBruin on Wednesday denied that he took $1,000 during a 2009 drug sting at a Tulsa motel.

DeBruin, officer Bruce Bonham and retired Cpl. Harold Wells are accused of conspiracy, drug possession with intent to distribute and planting drugs on people. They have pleaded not guilty.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) An Oklahoma City attorney is suing the state over the Legislature's transfer of $101.7 million in state gasoline and diesel fuel taxes to state agencies that are not involved in road and bridge construction and maintenance.

New Giraffes at Tulsa Zoo

Tulsa, OK – Tulsa Zoo to welcome 2 female giraffes

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Tulsa Zoo officials say two female giraffes soon will arrive at the zoo.

Zoo spokeswoman Angela Evans says a 4-year-old giraffe named Lexi will arrive from the Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield, Mo., while a 2-year-old named Pili will arrive from the Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita, Kan. Both will stay in quarantine for a time after arriving.

Hard Time is now Hot Time at State Prison

McAlester, OK – The air conditioning is out a state prison at McAlester, including on death row.

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections is working on the problems and trying to keep the sometimes rowdy inmate population calm. The air conditioning started failing on Sunday.

The Department's Jerry Massie says they are giving the inmates extra ice and providing additional showers.

Tulsa, OK – Okla woman arrested after husband falls from tower

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Tulsa police have arrested a young woman on a second-degree murder complaint after her husband fell from the 25th floor of a high-rise apartment building.

Officers say they received a call about 4 p.m. Tuesday of a possible suicide at the University Club tower. Police say a man in his 20's fell out of a window down to the top of a parking garage on the 8th floor.
