Tulsa, OK – The men and women who battle fires in hot summer weather must take special precautions. In addition to drinking lots of water, Tulsa Fire Department spokesman Tim Smallwood says the use of cooling stations is necessary.
Smallwood says crews are also frequently rotated to give firefighters as much of a break as possible in the extreme heat.
Tulsa, OK – Fire departments throughout Tulsa County are again being surveyed to determine if a burn ban is necessary. Area Emergency Manager Roger Jolife says the moderately dry drought status triggers calls to firefighters to see if conditions warrant a ban on outdoor burning. Any burn ban recommendation would have to go before County Commissioners to get a final okay.
