Terlton Update – 40 homes destroyed in deadly Terlton wildfire

TERLTON, Okla. (AP) A wildfire in Pawnee County have destroyed nearly 40 homes and done up to $20 million worth of damage.

KJRH-TV (http://bit.ly/oGaiuT) reports that residents are starting to sift through the ashes. The fire singed more than 10,000 acres of land in the county.

Back Home, Again

Lawton, OK – Soldiers return to Fort Sill from Afghanistan

LAWTON, Okla. (AP) Family and friends have welcomed home 21 soldiers to Fort Sill.

The Lawton Constitution reports the soldiers returned Thursday night following a year-long deployment to Afghanistan.

The soldiers' mission included operating a radar system in support of other troops.

Update: Police Corruption Probe

Tulsa, OK – TULSA, Okla. (AP) Prosecutors have rested after nine days of testimony in the federal trial of two Tulsa police officers on corruption allegations.

Defense attorneys for officers Jeff Henderson and Bill Yelton began their case Friday.

Henderson faces charges of distributing drugs, perjury and witness tampering. Charges against Yelton include witness tampering. Both men deny wrongdoing.

This is the second trial resulting from an investigation of Tulsa area law officers.

Baby Death Update

Bartlesville, OK – Okla. woman accused in baby's death waives trial

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (AP) A Washington County judge has scheduled an Aug. 23 date for a Bartlesville woman to enter a plea to charges in the death of her 10-day-old baby.

Lyndsey Fiddler waived her right Tuesday to a jury trial on first-degree murder and child neglect counts.

Prosecutors charged Fiddler in the Nov. 4 death of Maggie Trammel, whose body was discovered in a washing machine.

Terlton, OK – Body found in home burned in Oklahoma wildfire

TERLTON, Okla. (AP) Authorities say a body has been found in a home that was burned during a wildfire in Pawnee County.

The Sheriff's Office reports that the body was discovered early Thursday in Terlton.

Sheriff Mike Waters says family members reported a missing Wednesday afternoon. Officials are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the identity of the remains.
